Sports Strategy Grant
PE is an integral part of our attainment and inclusion strategies at Ladybridge Primary. We are supported in this through the Sports Premium funding. The Sports Strategy Grant is Government funding provided directly to schools from September 2013 and schools are required to provide details to parents about how this grant has been deployed.
The Sports Premium has facilitated greater participation in a wider range of sporting activities across the school. We carefully plan and monitor expenditure in order to ensure pupils at Ladybridge Primary School receive a quality provision. For details of the Sports’ Strategy Grant plans for 2020-2021, an evaluation of our current provision and an indication of our future plans, please see below.
The amount of Sports Strategy funds allocated to a school depends on numbers of pupils. The aim of the grant is to support schools to promote sustainable levels of participation in sport and improvements in the development in healthy lifestyles. The impact of these initiatives will be monitored by the PE co-ordinator, the headteacher and the governors and will measure participation and pupil response.
In 2019, we achieved the Commitment to High Quality PE Award, the Commitment to Inclusion Award and were Runners Up in the Schools’ Sports Challenge in the Stockport Schools’ ‘SHAPES’ Alliance and the School Games Mark Bronze award. In 2020, in spite of school closure through the Spring and Summer terms, we again achieved the Commitment to High Quality PE Award and the Commitment to Inclusion Award as well as third place in the Schools’ Sports Challenge with the Stockport Schools’ ‘SHAPES’ Alliance . 2021 saw us achieve the commitment to Competition award from Stockport SHAPES Alliance as well as maintaining our award for Commitment to High Quality PE. In 2022, we were very proud to achieve the Gold School Games award as well as coming Runner Up in the in the Bounce to Birmingham Schools’ Sports Challenge with the Stockport Schools’ ‘SHAPES’ Alliance.
