Dawn Strachan
My name is Dawn Strachan and I am a retired Secondary teacher. I trained and first taught in London and then in a Forces school in Germany. After moving north, I continued teaching for many years in a Stockport secondary school, where I was a staff governor for a long period, during which time both of my daughters were students at the school. I also worked, for my last 15 years or so, as Branch Secretary of a teaching union and was actively involved me in policy and decision making with SMBC.
I have continued to pursue an interest in local education since my retirement and have been involved, in various capacities, in both primary and secondary education. I first came into Ladybridge as a volunteer, listening to children read, which I continue to do. I very much enjoyed my initial introduction to such a successful and nurturing school and am therefore delighted to be further involved as a governor, this time with grandchildren elsewhere of primary school age!
