Background to the PE & Sports Premium Funding

The Government provides funding of £150 million per annum for primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools. Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

All schools have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport and they have the freedom to choose how they do this. Please see below how we spent our 2023/24 funding and our plan for how we intend to spend future funding below.
