Equality and Diversity
At Ladybridge we believe in inclusive practice for all of our community. We ensure that our curriculum design and lesson content promotes and values all learners, all adults and all families. We are proud of our diverse school, we celebrate the different faiths, backgrounds and the identities of everyone and actively promote inclusion for all. We teach anti-racism through our partnership with the Ethnic Diversity Linking Schools Programme and our work with Show Racism the Red Card. Relationships and Sex Education is delivered through weekly PSHE lessons, children are taught about healthy relationships and that the make-up of families can be diverse.
At Ladybridge, we welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010. The Equality Act 2010 put in place a number of duties for public bodies, including schools, to ensure that they have due regard to certain 'protected' groups. All public bodies and schools must have due regard to:
Eliminating unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
Advancing equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
Fostering good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
We strongly support the nine protected characteristics defined in the Equality Act 2010 in all aspects of school life, from our recruitment of staff, the design of our curriculum, our school values and how we support our vulnerable families. We are proud to be a Resourced Primary School where children with disabilities and special education needs are fully included in all of our school life.
The equality objectives capture our work in school to promote equality.
