Emma Hill
My name is Emma Hill, I am the Headteacher of Ladybridge Primary School. I was born in Manchester and have lived in Stockport for most of my life. I am married and have three children.
I studied Early Childhood Studies at Manchester University and was awarded a BA (Hons), 2:1. I then completed teacher training. I have worked in a number of educational settings in my career, including Special, Infant and Primary schools. I pursued my interest in Primary Education and Mathematics, becoming a Primary Mathematics Specialist Teacher and attaining a MSC with Distinction awarded by Manchester Metropolitan University. I also have a love of music, I work closely with Stockport Music Service to ensure that all children at Ladybridge have high quality Music lessons without any cost to families. All children in Key Stage 2 learn to play an orchestral instrument e.g. violin, cello, flute, trombone, (to name but a few), we have a school orchestra and choir and we take part in concerts in a number of venues across the town.
My role as part of the Governing Body is to report school improvement and development and to share my vision for the future of the Ladybridge Primary School. I am committed to improving outcomes for all children and have an Inclusive approach to Education. I believe that all children can learn and make progress, that the teachers and support staff should ensure that lessons are interesting and challenging both indoors and outdoors. We welcome children, their parents, Carers and families into a friendly, happy and hardworking environment. Our core values are ‘Respect, Resilience and Aiming High’ we weave the values into all aspects of school life; our core values link to the school motto ‘Be the best that you can be.’
I also believe in building social capital within the school community through Personal Social and Health Education, underpinned by Restorative Approaches. I am committed to working with all stakeholders in the school community including families, Services to People, Local Religious Communities and the Local Education Authority.
All members of staff and the Governing Body of Ladybridge Primary School are committed to implementing a deep and rich curriculum for all the children within a supportive and caring environment. Children explore questions such as ‘Does the earth need a plaster?’; children visit interesting places to support their enquiry such as recycling plants and then use their knowledge to write persuasive pieces to try to change our community and the wider world for the better. I want the impact of our curriculum to empower our children for the future, for the children to have high aspirations for themselves and for the world. s
